Latest Anglican News                                                   Volume 1, Number 2, 1 August  2007
It is anticipated that from the following three meetings, a new direction will be initiated in the traditional Anglican Communion.  Bishop Sutton will attend both the ACN and Common Cause Bishops meetings.

ACN meeting in Ft. Worth - July 30 – 31: Over 80 representatives of the Anglican Communion Network will gather at St. Vincent’s Cathedral in Bedford, Texas July 30–31 for the Network’s Annual Council Meeting. This will be the third meeting of its kind since the birth of the Network in 2004. The Bible teacher for the meeting will be the Most Rev. Greg Venables, Archbishop of the Southern Cone of South America.  Bishop Sutton will attend this meeting as an invited observer.  The meeting will be closed to all but credentialed members of the press.

The Episcopal Church (TEC) House of Bishops meeting in New Orleans - September 20 – 25:  The regular semi-annual meeting of TEC House of Bishops will be held.  Among the subjects to be considered will be a formal response to the directive issued to TEC by the Anglican Primates in their Dar es Saalam Communiqué .  Whether any response will actually be agreed and sent to the Primates remains to be seen.  To date TEC has tended to either slow-roll such requests or ignore them altogether.

Common Cause Council of Bishops meeting in Pittsburgh - September 25 – 28: All the Bishops of the Common Cause Partners, more than 35 in number, have been invited to attend the first-ever Common Cause Council of Bishops at the Cathedral of the Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA, September 25-28.  "By the time we meet, the House of Bishops of the Episcopal Church will have given its response to the Anglican Communion as to its decision to ‘walk apart.’  By contrast, I expect our gathering to signal a new level of 'walking together' both with each other and with the wider Anglican world," wrote Anglican Communion Network Moderator and Common Cause convener, Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Robert Duncan. The meeting said Bishop Duncan, is the result of many years of work toward Anglican unity responding to resolutions of both the Lambeth Conference of Bishops and The Episcopal Church's General Convention.  All REC Bishops are expected to attend.

Prior to, during and following these crucial meetings there will be some long lasting decisions coming from the various Bishops of the Anglican faith which will be covered in future editions of this report.
