The Rev. Jeffrey L. Baker - Assistant Priest
Father Jeffrey L. Baker was ordained to the Sacred Order of Priests on May 28, 2006, and currently serves as Assisant Priest at Church of the Holy Communion. Born and raised in Tennessee, he attended William Jennings Bryan College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts [B.A.]. He moved to Texas to attend Dallas Theological Seminary, where he received the degree of Master of Theology [Th.M.]. In 2009 Father Jeff earned a second Master of Theology degree [Th.M.] in Anglican Studies from Cranmer Theological House.
Father Kasey Gage was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated high school in 1990 and attended Midwestern State University for two years and graduated with a Bachelors of Music from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1995. He attended graduate school at Stephen F. Austin State University for one year. After sensing God’s calling into the ministry, he left SFA to enroll at Dallas Theological Seminary. He graduated in May of 2002 earning a Master of Theology [Th.M.] with an emphasis in Church History. Father Kasey began attending Church of the Holy Communion in September of 2004. He obtained his Episcopal training through Cranmer Theological Seminary over the 2004-05 year. Along with singing in the CHC Choir, he has been the Youth Director at CHC since August of 2005 and has also served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was ordained a Deacon in April of 2005 and a Priest in May of 2007 at CHC and hopes to be the Rector of his own church in the future. Father Kasey is married to Karla, who helps him with the youth group, sings in the choir, attends the prayer shawl ministry, and serves in the Altar Guild at CHC. They have one child, Calvin Forest, who was born in the summer of 2008. Father Kasey's youth blog can be read at http://bigfishyouth.blogspot.com.
Deacon Chip has taught Sunday School and conducted conformation classes. His current role at CHC includes altar service, acolyte training, and many other assorted duties as assigned by the Bishop. He and his wife, Dr. Theresa Shattuck, live in Lewisville. They have two sons, the oldest of whom is married to the lovely daughter of Bishop Keith Ackerman. Chip and Theresa have one beautiful grandchild, Natalia.
Deacon Chris is originally from Alabama. At age sixteen he embraced the Lord at a small country Church. After moving to Texas his senior year of High School, he took a B.A. in Religion from East Texas Baptist University, preparing to be a clergyman. His minor was Christian Missions. Then he married Ronda Guenther of Baytown, Texas, who was a scholarship basketball player at E.T.B.U. They moved to Dallas so Chris could attend Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Theology [Th.M.]. While at seminary Chris served as a youth pastor and a Bible Teacher at a private school. In 2009 Chris earned a second Master of Theology [Th.M.] in Anglican Studies from Cranmer Theological House. He presently works in the Dallas Theological Seminary library. While preparing for ordination as a Presbyterian, Chris decided to look more deeply into the Catholic faith of his friends Charlie, Michael, Jeff, Kasey, and Matt [some familiar names]. Chris comes to CHC from an RE mission that operated in Waxahachie for several years. He was ordained a Deacon at CHC in October of 2007. The Woodalls have one child, Trenton, and reside in the Red Oak area of DFW. Deacon Chris' blog can be read at http://vindiciaeignatianae.blogspot.com/.
Deaconess Mary Jane was born in St. Paul Minnesota. She attended Catholic grade school and an all girls' Catholic High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science [B.S.] from the University of Texas at Dallas in Psychology and Special Education, with Teaching Certificates for all grades. Mary Jane began attending CHC in 1972. She has been the Receiving Treasurer for CHC since 1978, along with service as Vestryman, Altar Guild member, BTES School Board President and member of the BTES School Board. Mary Jane is also currently the Business Manager for BTES. She was married to the late George Mathieu. Together they had three children, Mark, Monica, and Miles. Mark, a long time member of CHC, was called home to be with the Lord in May 2009. His warmth and infectious smile will be very much missed by both his immediate family and his church family. Monica, her husband James Dalton, and their three children also attend CHC. Miles serves as a Major in the US Air Force, stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, where he lives with his wife Audrey and their three children. After many years of parish service, Mary Jane was chosen to become CHC's first Deaconess. She was "set apart" in August 2008. She has many roles as Deaconess, including assisting the clergy, Altar Guild, Children's Chapel, Senior Singles Group, Order of St. Luke, and attending to the sick and shut-ins on a weekly basis. Her most challenging duty by far, however, is to keep Bishop Sutton in line. For more information about the "The Order of Deaconesses" in the Reformed Episcopal Church, click here.
