The Theology On Tap Podcast - Episode 2

Deacon Brett Lemke takes an in-depth look at the life and work of St. Francis of Assisi.

Historical Clarifications:

1. The story of Francis’ encounter with the leper actually

takes place before his vision of the crucifix at San

Damiano.

2. The first appointed vicars of the Order were: Gregory of

Naples and Matthew of Narni in 1219. Peter Cataneo was

appointed Vicar in 1220 when Francis resigned as leader

of the Order, and was Francis’ companion to Egypt when

he preached before the Sultan.
