The Second Sunday in Advent
This homily teaches that the Bible stands as our primary source for knowing God and His saving will. God inspired the Scriptures so that His people might learn the truth and find salvation in Jesus Christ. Throughout history faithful Christians labored and even suffered to translate God’s Word into the language of the people so all could hear and understand it. The Church calls the Second Sunday of Advent Bible Sunday to renew this commitment. Scripture teaches redemption in Christ offers comfort and gives hope. The collect urges believers to hear read learn mark and inwardly digest God’s Word so it may shape their lives. Just as food nourishes the body Scripture nourishes the soul. In a world hungry for hope God calls His people to return to the Scriptures and cling to the promise of everlasting life in Christ.
