The Third Sunday after Easter

Apr 26, 2026    The Rt. Rev Dr. Charles Camlin

This homily reflects on the ancient collect for the Third Sunday after Easter and its call to walk in the way of righteousness. Drawing from 1 Peter 2:11 to 12 and Ephesians 4:22 to 29, the homily explains how Christians must avoid what is contrary to their profession and follow what agrees with it. It highlights the early Church practice of baptism at the Easter Vigil and the white robe as a sign of putting off the old life and putting on Christ. The homily connects this teaching to the Prayer Book tradition of baptismal vows and daily repentance. It calls the parish to live faithfully as Christ’s people by resisting sin and pursuing holiness throughout the whole Christian life.
