The Fifth Sunday after Easter - Rogation Sunday

May 10, 2026    The Rev. Kasey Gage

This Mother’s Day homily reflects on Christ’s words in John 16:23 to 33 and the promise that sorrow will turn into joy through him. It honors mothers for their hidden labor, faithful prayers, and sacrificial love while connecting their struggles to the lives of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Monica. The homily shows how Mary trusted God through uncertainty and suffering, especially at the cross, while Monica persevered in prayer for the conversion of her son Augustine. It connects these examples to the Prayer Book vision of Christian endurance, prayer, and hope in Christ’s triumph over the world. It calls the parish to trust God through trials and to persevere in faithful prayer because Christ has overcome the world.
